Description of Services
Teeth Cleaning and Preventative Care
Did you know most people take better care of their cars than their own teeth? Do you know anyone whose car has lasted their lifetime? Your teeth can and should. There is really no excuse in this day and age for people to lose their teeth. Your teeth were meant to last a lifetime – regular checkups and cleanings are the first step towards achieving that goal.
TMJ Therapy
Neuromuscular dentistry makes sure that the jaw joint, (the temporomandibular joint), is in correct alignment; relieving the symptoms of Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMD). TMD causes symptoms that include ringing in the ears, arm and neck pain, migraines and headaches.
The most common cause of TMJ is malocclusion. Malocclusion is a term used to describe a person's bite when their teeth don't come together properly. When the bite is misaligned, the muscles around the temporomandibular joint strain just to rest the jaw.
If you are suffering from TMJ symptoms, Dr. Goodrich can develop a treatment for you that will provide relief and prevent future problems.
Fillings, Inlays and Onlays
Composite tooth colored fillings are made of a resin filled with microscopic porcelain particles. The strength of current composite fillings is similar to the strength of silver amalgam fillings, but look much more natural. For small- to moderate-sized cavities, Dr. Goodrich uses composite fillings for their tooth-like appearances. Larger cavities that do not require a crown can be restored with conservative porcelain inlays and onlays. These are very esthetic restorations that conserve as much tooth structure as possible.
Crowns
Recent technology has created porcelains that are much closer in strength to natural teeth than ever before. Full crowns are needed when an entire tooth has been damaged by fracture or decay. For the ultimate in aesthetics, crowns can cover an entire tooth and rebuild it with all porcelain materials bonded to the tooth. There is no ugly metal line next to the gums, so they can be placed in areas where aesthetics is important. Beauty as well as function! Long term success can be achieved with these materials when used in appropriate situations. Dr. Goodrich can recommend the best method and material to restore your damaged teeth.
Bridges
Bridges are used to replace missing teeth with permanently cemented tooth-like prosthetic appliance.
Whitening
Dentist-supervised whitening is one of the safest and most conservative cosmetic dental treatments available. We offer a take-home system. This allows you to be in control of the process and decide how much whitening is just right for you. The average patient usually requires 14 one-hour treatments to achieve the level of whitening they desire. You apply the whitening gel into retainer-like trays in the comfort of your home.
Veneers
Porcelain veneers are a fantastic way to repair or enhance the appearance of front teeth. They can be used to whiten teeth, close spaces and create a great smile!
• Reduce or eliminate spaces between the teeth (diastemas)
• Repair broken or chipped teeth
• Whiten dark, yellow, permanently stained or discolored teeth
• Correct misshapen or slightly crooked teeth
Dental Bonding
Dental bonding, dental crowns and veneers are all cosmetic dentistry procedures that can boost your smile from average to brilliant. Bonding, however, is a less expensive, less complicated alternative to a dental crown or porcelain veneers. Dr. Goodrich feels that dental bonding is best suited for:
• Small cosmetic changes
• Temporary corrections of cosmetic defects
• Teeth with little bite pressure (especially front teeth)
Another benefit of dental bonding is the time it can save you. Unlike veneers and dental crowns, which are custom-made in an off-site laboratory and require multiple visits to complete, a dental bonding procedure is performed in our office and generally takes just one visit!
Implants
Implant dentistry is a conservative way to replace a single tooth or multiple teeth. Implants are often titanium cylinders placed into the bone to take the place of a tooth root or roots. Crowns are then fabricated to replace the actual tooth structure.
Dental implants can be used for a variety of purposes, including:
• Replacing a missing tooth
• Anchoring dental bridges
• Anchoring dentures
• Replacing several missing teeth
Periodontal Care
Did you know more people lose their teeth due to gum disease than anything else? Gum disease is preventable with good dentistry and good oral hygiene in healthy individuals. We'll show you how to take care of your mouth after we've eliminated all the causative factors. Our treatments are advanced and conservative. Serious periodontal disease may require a specialist so don't wait until it's too late.
Dentures With Implants
While dentures can help restore self-confidence and make chewing more comfortable, they are also often the source of embarrassing slips and noises. Although partial dentures provide effective replacements for missing teeth, they require constant maintenance and can be unaesthetic.
Implant overdentures offer all the benefits of traditional dentures with added security, comfort and ease. Your dentures are held in place by several implants that are placed into the bone and gums for extra support that allow you to chew food better and speak more clearly. Implant overdentures also eliminate the need for messy creams and adhesives. Dr. Erbes and Dr. Goodrich are both experienced in providing this simple and safe procedure.
